Chris (Steve Lowe) and Tina (Alice Lowe) in the new Ben Wheatley (Kill List, Down Terrace) film, Sightseers (2012). Sightseers is one of the most unique dark comedies I’ve ever seen. Romantic road movies have never unfurled with such unpredictability in a kaleidoscopic of charming gloom. Perhaps a summary of the sign of the times highlighting the lack or responsibility and indifference too many these days seem to possess. Wheatley, cast and crew craft his most accomplished moment yet as a filmmaker with an uncompromising vision.

Sightseers had its World Premiere at this years Cannes Film Festival in the Directors’ Fortnight section where I originally saw it at. Sightseers next must see stop on the film festival circuit is at the 2012 edition of the Locarno Film Festival.
